Imsouane Kids:
A Wave of Resillience
In September 2024, I arrived in the small coastal town of Imsouane, Morocco, known for its stunning landscapes and one of the longest waves in Africa. Eight months earlier, this vibrant community faced devastation as homes, businesses, and landmarks were destroyed during a government initiative to reclaim maritime domains. Negative media coverage painted a picture of complete desolation, leading to a steep decline in tourism and a shadow of hopelessness over the town.
What I found was a different story. Imsouane was still alive—alive with the warmth of tea, welcoming smiles, and a profound spirit of resilience. While scars from the destruction remain, the town is far from broken. The people are looking ahead, rebuilding with optimism and embracing the promise of new seasons.
This series captures not only the heart of Imsouane but also the universal power of resilience—a theme that inspired me to reconnect with my own self-worth and determination.
